The rationed care argument made by republicans is a joke. The US system rations care by simply eliminating large numbers of people from the system. Also, in the US when your benefits run out, ready or not and still sick or not, they send you home. By their definition of rationed care, it is already happening in the US everyday.
I have 2 family members who work for the VA hospital, and they report that it is very efficient and well run. Yes, they have their problems (just like any other hospital), but as a whole they do a really good job.
I do not know. It has been around here for as long as I remember. Actually Conservatives and ultra-conservatives have attempted to make it a two teir system, which is bullshit because that means the rich could get treated first by paying out.
Poseidon500 I got a very important question for you and I hope you will be able to answer it fully, because we do not know how to convince the stupid people in America that
#1) private medical insurance is a complete joke and for profit , NOT for patient
#2) Single Payer is NOT socialized medicine (govt doctors )
How did you convince the conservatives and even the ultra-conservatives in Canada that Universal Healthcare is better than anything USA has?
The U.S. tried to invade the whole of North America and Canada beat them off, went to Washington and burned down the whitehouse. We could have pressed on, but did not want to destroy America.
Technically it was British North America at the time, but that eventually became Canada.

Someone else said it best, hat tip to unknown commenter. Democrats do not vote lockstep like Republicans in Congress, therefore conservative Democrats have kept Single Payer dead, even though Dems are the majority now!. We are damned if we do and damned if we don’t vote for Democrat Congresspersons. The only way out of this trap is to vote the incumbents out who vote down Single Payer, otherwise we will continue to be the only Western Industrialized nation that screws its own people!!!

Let’s compare the rating and the costs per head in France and some countries with a public option with the American system.

It doesn’t matter who’s in office. We’ll never have one payer health care because even Obama is in the pockets of the health care industry. The biggest industry in the US is insurance. The second biggest is marijuana. I think the weed lobby isn’t doing it’s part!
